Joseph Keith Wilson III serves as director for Navis Wealth Management. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 2001, Joe specializes in tax consulting and research. He brings considerable experience and technical tax knowledge for advising on complex tax issues related to individuals, family trusts and estates, as well as on business tax issues for partnerships and corporations. In joining the Navis team, Joe further enhances the core and advanced tax planning our clients receive and reinforces the firm’s ethos of delivering truly comprehensive wealth management services.
Joe joined Navis in August 2019 from CWS CPA, LLP in New York where he served as a non-equity tax partner. He leveraged his tax knowledge and experience at a few highly regarded regional accounting firms, such as Reynolds & Rowella, LLP of Ridgefield, Connecticut; Venman and Company, LLC in Shelton, Connecticut; and Nanavaty, Nanavaty & Davenport, LLP in Newtown, Connecticut.
A material portion of Joe’s public accounting career was spent in tax consulting, compliance and research at large multi-service firms such as Silvercrest Asset Management Group, LLC in Charlottesville, Virginia where Joe was vice president of tax and a member of the Silvercrest Investment Funds administrative team. At Silvercrest, he managed tax projects for corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts and foundations and he prepared and reviewed returns for the investment funds managed by the firm. Joe began his career at Ernst & Young, LLP in Greenville, South Carolina, where he spent five years gaining valuable experience in tax compliance and real estate issues. Joe also understands the demands and rigor of being an entrepreneur and a business owner, having been an owner/operator of a national motorcycle salvage business. This has certainly enabled Joe to truly understand and effectively deliver the quality of service required by today’s entrepreneurs, business owners and executives.
Joe obtained both his B.S. in financial management and his master’s degree in professional accountancy from Clemson University where his studies focused on tax and finance. He continues to pursue professional training in tax-related issues and personal finance.
Joe lives in Newtown, Connecticut, with his wife Renee and their four children. Joe’s interests are college sports, Formula 1 auto racing, and working on his own cars.
